Chadwick Lake

Weather: Very Cloudy/Light Rain
Water Temp: 71 Degrees

CHADWICK LAKE, NY -- Had the pleasure to fish with a club member, John V. John and I met up and launched by 10AM under cloudy skies. We began working the east shoreline were John immediately showed off his angling skills by hooking up with the first fish. Being that John is the Blade Dancer king in the club he was showing me some of the techniques used for the Blade Dancer lure. John has pulled in some big bags using this lure. As we continued working the shoreline we came across a nice submerged weed patch with healthy weeds. John continued using his blade dancer while I quickly tossed a spinnerbait slow rolled. The bait hit the water and in less than 2 cranks of the reel, BAM! I landed a nice 4.2LB slob!!

We continued to work the shoreline with senkos and other soft plastics with no strikes. I tied on a rattle trap and landed another nice chunk. At this point John and I decided that the fish were chasing their food so we continued using lures such as cranks and spinnerbaits. John landed a nice chunk with his Blade Dancer using BearPaw swim baits. Here is a nice chunk John landed near the 3lb range.

John's Fish

After enduring heavy winds and a nice rain storm for about 45 minutes, we ended the day at 3pm with a total of 7 fish in five hours. We lost a few nice hawgs, one of which was next to the boat on a rattle trap. Grrr!

Club 2-Day Event: Lake Ontario

Weather: Cloudy/Heavy Rain/Heavy Winds
Water Temp: 71 Degrees

ONTARIO LAKE, NY -- My local club had a 2-day event in honor of a past member who was struck ill and later passed away. Many arrived on Friday to pre-fish the water with large fish being caught. On Saturday the fishing got tough as a bad storm moved passed us. Fortunately we were able to fish well before the storm struck and many of us limited out, nothing big but still limits. On day two, Sunday, fishing was even tougher than the previous day. Many struggled to find fish while a few of us limited out for the second day in a row. This weekend was the first time I limited out in the club, twice for that matter. I was going Iaconelli on the boat!

I limited out both days using MicroMunch senkos wacky rigged. I nearly ran out of those senkos which would have been a disaster. Lucky for me I was culling by the time I ran low on that specific piece of tackle. The club certainly looks forward to a return visit to Ontario again in the immediate future.
