HOLMES, NY -- Went with my buddy Bill to Whaley lake since I told him all kinds of stories about a 100 bass fish massacre. We arrived about 9AM and began fishing the island just a few hundred yards from the boat launch hoping we'd stick fish almost right away. Boy, were we wrong; dead wrong! About an hour into fishing I finally hooked up with a bass on a worm.

Bill fished like a machine to only hook up with one bass several hours into our day...

We fished until about 3pm, actually I don't even recall the exact time we left because I was SO disappointed with the lake that I was ready to get off at noon. We fished every area I've known to hold fish. I'm not talking any specific pattern that may be based on a particular season, I was simply looking for fish; any fish - even pan fish!

Whaley fished so bad that I'm not sure if I'll be out to the lake again anytime soon. We probably should have gone to fish Chadwick if I wanted to boat a lot of fish. We ended the day with 2 bass and 2 pickerel.
