NEWBURGH, NY – What better way to spend July 4th. Wife and I launched at 8AM working some top water lures. I landed the first fish on a zara spook, jr and she landed a nice fish on a Rapala popper. Wife and I continued to fish trying to find a pattern. We were banging the shoreline with everything we had with no strikes at all. We decided to move out to deeper water and held our position over 6-8FT of water with a hard bottom. After moving off the shoreline I landed my first fish on a 7FT diving crankbait and less than 10 minutes later my wife landed another on a powerbait worm. We found the fish!! The fish were holding in the deeper 6-8FT water mark.
Working our way back to the boat launch my wife and I decided to try the shoreline again to see if we could pick off another fish before we called it a day. Wife and I were working spinnerbaits along the banks when BAM!, she landed a nice 3.5lb Hawg!! We called it a day with a total of 6 fish the biggest being 3.5lbs. Wife took lunker for the day!
