MONROE, NY -- Met up with my buddy Bill to fish Round Lake where he hasn't been to in many, many years. The last time I visited Round Lake was exactly one year ago to this date and fishing was much better this year.
We arrived to the boat launch at 6am and about 20 mins later we were on the water. Within the first half hour I hooked up with the first fish of many to follow...

Nothing was of huge size, they were actually all smaller fish that we caught today. Last year the few I caught were small as well so it leaves me wondering if Round Lake has any bigger fish; which I'm sure it does (it must have). We fished the center island on the lake and worked our way around most of the shoreline landing fish pretty often considering we were not out long. The fish were picking up tubes and senkos with little effort so we almost didn't know that we had fish on until we lifted our rod tips. Bill was worried he wasn't going to find a fish until this bad boy made his appearance...

There was no solid pattern that we could put together cause the fish were coming from everywhere; lilly pads, wood, rocks, etc. Several baits worked so they were not picky to see a certain presentation. We had a great time and ended our day fishing the lilly pads landing another two fish. We headed for the boat launch at 11am with a total of ten fish in the boat for our day; not bad at all. I actually expected a bad day because there was a posting at the boat launch that weed treatment had taken place only 3 days ago so it warned of swimming until treatment had settled.
