Had a night tournament last night that lasted until 6:30AM this morning on Twin Lake in CT. The club arrived by 5:30PM and we were all in the water by 6. My partner and I thought the night was going to be great as he landed 3 bass within two hours of arriving. Well, after those 3 bass it was a perch fest the rest of the night (well a few rock bass joined the party but it was the most perch I’ve seen caught in a very long time).
The club had two weigh-in’s, one at midnight and another at 6:30AM. Most fish were caught by others up until midnight while very few fish were caught by morning. It was a tough bite to say the least but talk around the launch site was that the lake had been treated with chemicals for weed control which may have contributed to the decline in quantity and quality of the fishing.
I myself hooked into one bass that I managed to bump on the side of the boat like a knucklehead and lost. Night fishing is never easy.
